Wow! Where did 2023 go? I’ve had an incredible time talking to more powerful women that I could have dreamed I would have the opportunity to speak to and I can sincerely say that I have loved it, been inspired and learnt so much.

To wrap up the year I have a conversation that won’t disappoint. I’m joined by Dr. Brigitte Piniewski.

Brigitte is a trailblazing figure at the intersection of medicine, decentralised technology and AI, putting her at the forefront of the web3 healthcare evolution.

This is a mind-blowing conversation where Brigitte gives us insight into the immense possibilities of securely channeling crowd-sourced health expression data sets for unparalleled AI training. Revolutionary health intelligence hinges on two pillars: the promise of enduring privacy with self-management of personal data plus the permissioned prowess of sophisticated machine learning.

Dr. Piniewski covers how a dramatic elevation in personally relevant health intelligence is poised to not only enable cutting-edge products and services but also a myriad of new data-dependent business models which will lay the foundation for society’s next leap in wealth production. Imagine a future where you choose to track your health data and it’s so valuable that it provides you with enough income to work just 3 days a week. Now there is an incentive!

Brigitte mentions her seminal book, “Wealthcare: Demystifying Web3 and the Rise of Personal Data Economies”, also available as an NFT, is an essential guide for anyone aiming to spearhead innovations in healthcare in this conversation as well as Shoshana’s book – The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power.

So be prepared to be blown away with this conversation! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It certainly got my creative cells working!

My guest this week shows how we can beautifully combine the different threads in our lives to create a business that brings joy to many.

Meet Tansy!

The name Tansy comes from the tenacious wildflower that grows in the English countryside and much like her wildflower counterpart, Tansy lives and thrives in the countryside of Kent where Nature is a fundamental part of her life in work rest and play.

After living in London for 25 years, Tansy moved to Kent and trained as a Certified Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) & Natural Mindfulness Guide and ICF Personal Growth Life Coach, utilising Nature as a tool for inspirational growth and wellbeing.

We have a fascinating conversation on how when we slow down and become more aware of the nature around us we can look to nature for lessons about our own outlook in life. Through mindful and embodied journeys with Nature, Tansy guides groups and individuals along peaceful paths into Nature to discover a sense of peace, aliveness and belonging and remember who they are under the multiple layers and expectations of life in the Human world.

Tansy believes deeply that connection to Mother Nature is a direct pathway of reconnection with your true nature. She is driven by a purpose to reignite our relationship with this majestic planet we inhabit so that we may come home to our authentic selves and tend to our emotional health and wellbeing.

Tansy has a number of incredible events organised to take us into the new year, so be sure to take a look at her socials.

Enjoy this conversation and I’d love to hear if you find a tree and give it a name. I know I am going to!

How to trust and surrender to what our bodies know best with Anna Robertshaw

Having children opens up a lot of things for many of us. The way we look at the world, what is important to us, our identity. Often this is a time women use to explore areas that they are interested in. Women aren’t prepared for this big life change… just like they aren’t when it comes to perimenopause.

This is a raw and authentic conversation about what happens when we trust and surrender to what our bodies know how to do best.

I’m joined by Anna Robertshaw, a Senior Yoga Teacher, Sound Therapist and NADA Protocol Ear Acupuncturist.

Anna is passionate about providing space for people to explore their deepest levels of healing by showing them ways in which their bodies are best able to express not suppress. She believes in giving people tools to empower themselves to create positive change, body/heart / mindset to create their best lives and versions of themselves; so in other words, it is aligned with my own mission.

Enjoy this powerful conversation!

Achieving Flow in Life with the Power of Pilates with Nadine André

I love following the threads of people’s lives to see how they got to where they are today? Where does inspiration come from and what nudges us in a certain direction?

This week’s Powerful Woman, Nadine André, has been a professional pianist and piano teacher for over 20 years and is now also a certified Romana’s Pilates instructor.

When she was a child she was given the choice in which passion to follow. Her instinct said swimming, but her “nudge” said the piano.

This powerful conversation goes to show how dedication and determination turn into professionalism and excellence and this is a theme that runs through Nadine’s life.

Training at the Royal Northern College of Music and receiving an MMus and BMus (hons) in 2005 is no mean feat and Nadine was quick to see how musicians need to take better care of their bodies and invest in developing their function, movement and strength to meet with the demands of a professional musical career.

It was Nadine’s enthusiasm for the mechanical function of the human body, that led her to an apprenticeship with Kinetic Pilates in London in 2019 and to becoming a fully comprehensive Romana’s Pilates instructor. Nadine once again leaned on her dedication and determination to complete over 1500 hours of apprenticeship, continual assessment and rigorous examination in the full advanced system and a certification from Marjorie Oron level X in February 2022.

But what I find fascinating in this conversation is that whichever modality we choose – and I believe there is the right one for each of us – when it comes down to it we can’t deny the interconnectedness of our minds and bodies. Our bodies and our mind hold memories and believes about what is and isn’t possible and it’s only when we are given the tools that work for each of us that we are able to grow in confidence and ability so we can achieve the previously seemingly impossible!

Nadine teaches the Pilates method at her home studio in Ewell, Surrey along with continuing to teach the piano, to promote long-term physical health and well-being to musicians and anyone who wants to feel better. A specialism in working with musicians will never be exclusive to anyone who wants to embrace this fantastic method. Pilates is for everyone and Nadine is as comfortable teaching complete beginners, including those who are infirm or have injury, to advanced Pilates practitioners and professional athletes.

What happens when you invest in the course of your dreams and then have it (and the money) taken from you? Everything happens for a reason… with Kalli Pasqualucci

Kalli, my powerful guest in this week’s conversation overcame imposter syndrome and took money out of the family mortgage to invest in the yoga training course of her dreams. Then just before Christmas, the company folded along with her money and her plan to become a yoga teacher.

But everything happens for a reason and an opportunity to train was literally handed to her…

13 years ago Kalli Pasqualucci started her yoga journey and has since wanted to be a yoga teacher. Like many of us, she held the belief that she wasn’t “good enough” and didn’t “have the right look” to be one. But this hasn’t stopped her. In 2022 she started her training and hasn’t looked back.

During the pandemic, yoga, breathwork, and meditation really helped Kalli with her anxiety and relaxation. She is now determined to share what she has learnt and to provide “time out” for busy people – always ensuring that there is a balance between stretching and strengthening and that classes end with a peaceful relaxation. In this conversation, Kalli describes the joy in seeing her clients walk out of her class having let go of the tension they came in with.

It’s not going to stop with yoga classes, Kalli intends to train in other modalities including meditation and sound therapy.

Kalli’s story goes to show that when we have a true passion for something nothing gets in our way. We can all choose to take a different path and give back to the world in a way that lights us and the world up.

You can reach Kalli on Instagram: @thislittleyogini and her website is www.thislittleyogini.com

What does it take to challenge an inconsiderately parked builder on a station forecourt with Adelina Chalmers

Does it take guts? Is it stupidity? Or is it simply a self-awareness and curiosity and a strong desire to understand this strange world that we live in?

In this week’s Powerful Conversation I am joined by Adelina Chalmers, nominee on Computer Weekly’s Most Influencing Women in IT list in 2021 and won her place in the top 50 Most Influential Women in Tech in 2022.

This is a fun, yet deep conversation where we talk about the labels we give ourselves… and others give us. Adelina talks about despite a lifetime of being called fat this is not a label that has stopped her from achieving incredible strides in her life and business.

Adelina talks about how rather than responding to being called stupid with a reaction of outrage that most of us may feel, she explored it with curiosity, safe in the knowledge that she knows she is smart.

Adelina shares how she learns through experimentation and recounts the social experiment that she did testing how the ways she approached poorly parked vehicles on station forecourts about their parking influence the way they responded to her questioning. This is way braver than I can imagine myself being (maybe I’m not giving myself enough credit there!) – but it goes to show that there are ways of “confronting” people with compassion and kindness that will see results – just like there are those that are simply inconsiderate (for whatever reason that may be!)

It’s not surprising that in Adelina’s business, The Geek Whisperer®, she cuts straight to the heart of the matter when advising Chief Technology Officers in tech companies and goes down in the trenches with them. She focuses entirely on the most pressing issues in the business and usually adds a minimum of $1million worth of value to each company with which she works. She has been working since 2011 with science and technology companies from 50 to 110,000 staff on communication, leadership and strategic challenges. She has worked with scientists and engineers from Software Engineer to CEO/CSO/CTO who work for: Atos, Fujitsu, ARM, Amazon, Apple, Deloitte, Compare the Market, Microsoft and hundreds of scale-ups.

How to turn traumatic experiences into self-love and reconnection with our emotions with Sophie Brigden

I’ve been friends with Sophie since I was around 8 – on and off. We reconnected a year or so ago and have some amazing walk and talks in my local woods! I was delighted when Sophie agreed to join me as a guest in my Powerful Conversations with Powerful Women.

Sophie is a trauma-informed coach, consultant, trainer and speaker helping people find their most authentic, agile, emotionally and psychologically resilient selves.

Her work is based on her lived experience of navigating a culture and career in the Army where, at the time, about 4% of employees were female. In 2007 when deployed to Afghanistan as an Army officer, she experienced a range of traumatic events including bullying and assault. Her experience was exasperated by a leadership that looked the other way, a toxic culture, a system ill-equipped to support her and her own lack of psychological tools to help her process the injustice and emotional fall-out of what had happened. This ultimately led to what was founded in military research as moral injury and this subsequently led to PTSD.

Sophie’s leveraged her experience with qualifications including, a MSc in Psychology, ICF coaching qualifications and years of training experience. She helps leaders and organisations become more trauma-informed, delivers workshops and talks that help raise awareness of moral injury or reduce the stigma around experiencing trauma and coached people faced with their own traumatic experiences to find better emotional relationships with themselves.

In this truly powerful , authentic conversation Sophie and I talk about the different types of trauma and the relationship between our ability to feel and express our emotions and drama. Sophie shares a surprising and alarming dictionary definition of feminine / effeminate and we talk the different ways we can connect with the emotions and feel the imprint of emotions as sensations in our bodies.

I first met Melody Jane a decade or so ago at a local women’s networking event when we were both interior designers. Fast forward to today and our paths have crossed again. And by the strangest of coincidences we both now find ourselves on a path of coaching, mentoring and spirituality.

Melody Jane is full of energy. She literally fills the room, but with warmth and love.

I was delighted when she accepted the invitation to be a guest in one of my Powerful Conversations.

In this conversation we start off by talking about how we are all leaders. Even if it’s in our capacity as a parent. I love this and find it an incredibly powerful reframe.

Melody Jane describes herself as a writer, a designer, a mentor and an alchemist. An ever evolving and expanding soul. She uses her gifts and talents to re-mind you, that the answers you seek, are all within. Mentoring you to find those answers and guiding you lovingly through the process.

I hope you enjoy this really beautiful conversation.

Have you met a modern day Priestess?

In this powerful conversation I am joined by the truly inspiring, creative and intuitive Jakki Hesse. There isn’t one word to describe what she does. Or maybe there is? She’s following her calling. Embracing and surrendering to life. And wow this makes her a truly powerful women.

After a long journey with endometriosis and fibroids she said goodbye to her coil and her womb and is now navigating surgical menopause. She found her calling when, having tried everything, she surrounded myself with women who listened to their wombs, for the first time, she heard hers.

Jakki’s work is centred around the self healing journey, connecting you to you. Through the healing power of nature, whether it’s walking the land, sitting with the ancient trees and listening to their wisdom. Womb connection practises, including massage and meditation. And the powerful healing and therapeutic frequencies of sound.

So if this resonates then you are going to want to listen. Be open. Be curious and take a step towards your true self.

It’s time to be honest. So where is the messy drawer in your house that you don’t want anyone to look in?

We all have one. Don’t we? Well I assume that we all do.

I’m a naturally messy person, but I am also very organised. So I was fascinated when I met this week’s guest, Sheena Taylor at Edenbridge Ladies Lunch Club.

Sheena is an eco-friendly professional organiser. She strongly believes in our overall mental wellbeing, and that our home plays a huge part in this. Her ‘Make Space for the Life You Want’ concepts allows her clients to move from a place of struggle, shame and embarrassment to one of positivity and confidence in their ability to manage their home.

With a background in teaching, mentoring, supporting mental wellbeing and coaching in education and in organising, Sheen is a verified member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers. She also enjoys volunteering as their Reuse and Recycling Coordinator, helping other organisers find sustainable organisations for unwanted clutter.

Experience has given Sheena unique insight into the difficulties and struggles that being organised in the home presents for some people daily and for others when life gets too busy, allowing her to provide individualised support with the promise of empathy, compassion and non-judgement. Her clients clients feel like a weight has been lifted from their shoulders, and that they can tackle any decluttering they encounter on the road in front of them.

What’s not to love about that?

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

Today’s guest is one wise woman with an inspirational story to share. A powerful woman, unafraid to break the patterns of the past, and embrace her present with a knowing that it will influence the future. This is definitely a powerful, deeply resonating, conversation with Michelle Bauge.

Many of us realised our gifts during the 2020 lockdowns.

During lockdown, Michelle had time; for the first time in years she had time to reflect, time to heal and time to grow, she realised she had a message to share, one that she could not wait another minute to share. Michelle’s pursued her passion to write. She believes the message that is woven through the fabric of her work is one of love. Love is eternal and leaves a legacy. She believes LOVE is the one thing no-one should ever have to go without.

The result of this is a soon-to-be published book called “A heart full of love”.

Michelle lives life by example and when she is not writing her day job is as a Sports Development Co-ordinator. According to Michelle, the biggest learning has come from her years studying Personal Development and learning on how the mind works. This has ignited a fire and provided her with clarity, increased self-awareness, higher sense of self, and a clear direction.

Michelle is a delight to talk to. I love a Glaswegian accent as well!

It’s pretty impressive when you speak to a real maverick? I hope the correct sense of that word is interpreted…

A 30 year career in IT as a women is VERY impressive. Sometimes we forget that what feels normal today was new, challenging, rare just a few decades ago.

When speaking to Diane I had a strong sense of a powerful woman that has intuitively leaned into a more feminine, caring way of doing things and this is exactly what has set her apart. There is a lot to be learnt here.

Since leaving the commercial world of IT, Diane has been honing her needlework and knitting skills, is learning the art of quilting and has dabbled in a bit of singing too, even though she thought she couldn’t sing! – which just goes to prove that we can do anything that we put our minds to!

In the past few years, Diane has been focused on building Mentors for Women ( https://mentorsforwomen.com/ ), providing a much-needed distraction from world events and a desperately needed place for women to share their experiences and expertise. In this Powerful Conversation, we talk about how and why she set this up and learn about her journey to where she is today.

There are not many people who can stand up and say they have recovered from Stage 4 cancer, having been given 3 months to live. There are not many that would consider riding a bike across the Swiss Alps with only one lung…

But this week’s guest has done both of these things and she still has a HUGE smile on her face. There is a lot to be learnt from someone that can bounce back from these sorts of challenges.

Krista Anderson is the founder and CEO of Healthy on the Go, an international natural food brokerage and distribution company with offices in the US and France. Nominated by former First Lady, Michelle Obama, as Catalyst for Change for the health of Americans.

Krista’s mission is to help create a preventative healthcare system by making healthy foods affordable and accessible in places they’ve never been available before through their food stations in hospitals, universities, airports, and convenience stores.

Krista is the author of “Claim Your Healing” and currently living in the South of France where she has embraced “l’art de vivre”.

This is a conversation that you can’t afford to miss… so what are you going to do to slow down so you can tune in?
